// Social Project

Favela Surf Club - FSC

Favela Surf Club coordinates a free surfing school in Arpoador and a surfboard workshop for deprived children.  Both activities have shown to many young people a life option that is connected to sports and not drug trafficking.

This type of initiative proves that there still are people who fight for an ideal and that believe that surfing is a great social education tool.

// Surfing Against Drugs

The goal of “Onda Boa” project (which means Good Wave) is to raise young people’s awareness about the importance of avoiding drugs.

The project has been informing these kids about all the harm caused by drugs and the benefits that can be obtained from surfing.

The initiative began with the Municipal Committee for Drug Prevention, of Rio de Janeiro’s Municipal Chamber and has the support of Rio de Janeiro’s Surfing Federation.

You can also find prevention tents along the beach where qualified professionals distribute informative brochures and talk to surfers.
